He sent me pics over the phone. Before that he had black rims.

What does it mean if it has those types of wheels/tires combo?

Looks normal to me, I think it's just the picture and wheel gap making it look that way.

OP: this is the first M3 you've posted/asked about that is actually worth the money. If it's well maintained then $16,500 is a screaming deal despite the SMG and gray seats.

Yeah I know. I just dont want to be in the hole for 16k. I've been saving for a while and I dont want to slammed with depreation and resale value of -2k+ or if a smg pump goes -3k. etc. right now I have a wrangler and its holding me off until i make a decision

If you can't afford to fix the car if something happens then just keep saving or buy something less expensive. The M3 is expensive to maintain, and even more expensive if not maintained.

Not to sound snobbish, but this might not be the car for you. You're worried about depreciation which is inevitable on a car that is not a collector item. Will some make it through the test of time, being sought after gems, sure. But that is not to say this car is worth more in the future. This car is meant to be driven and to drive it things have to wear, and break.

If you are sinking all that you've saved into to a car you might not be able to afford to fix or run I'd suggest saving some more or looking into another car. Owning a car like this and not being able to afford to maintain it to a respectable standard will not make you fell better. Think of things breaking or wearing to the point of replacement. Window seals, bushings, engine/powertrain, and the convertible top. Most things to fix are not cheep, even with DIY.

Take your time, keep saving and keep looking. The right car will pop up one day for a price you are comfortable with.

Thanks for the recommendation. I know the m3 rule of thumb, the lower you buy it, more it will cost you in maintenance. I guess either way you cannot avoid it. I may as well wait another couple years for the prices to be right where i want them. I figure in a couple years I can get a 75k mile e46 m3 for 10k and be able to have 10k for maintenance. Owning an m3 has always been a dream of mine ever since I first saw one. I guess I will get one, its a matter of when now.

You'd be lucky if he doesn't bash your head in after pulling a stunt like that. Who taught you to treat people this way?

I offered the guy on the phone 16k. He said if I was serious he'd take 16.5k. I said well work it out (full well knowing what i had offered). And we planned to make a date to meet up. It wasnt a hard cap 16,500 I didnt recounter. I'm a business man first. I use logic to think and use logic to make other people think that $500 is a $1 bill.
