Default SES light ON, freezing weather

Been really busy with work, logging in 60-65hr per week.
This past Wednesday back from work the SES light comes on
Was able to find some time and pop in Autozone and have the car scanned.
Code P0128 Coolant Thermostat temp below......
Why do things fail when its 18 degrees outside???
My oil and temp gauges are sitting are 10 oclock position. Car is not warming up at all. Open thermostat
Agggggggggggghhhhhh. not going to fix this in this type of weather,
BMW indy here i go.
Anybody know the labor costs on doing an thermostat?
Gonna provide the part.

Thanks

Zhee Jahman elektroniks....don't verk in zhee cold.

My indy shop is about $90/hr. I'm not sure on total labor time, but a T-stat job, I'd say they can knock it out in 3 hours or so--half what I estimate it would take me first time through.

How about this one:

Periodically when it's very cold, my car won't go over 70 MPH. That's right--throttle cuts out , no more engine revs, nada. Indy shop can't figure it out--no stored codes. Only when it's maybe below freezing. All temps are good, runs fine, and then--no go above 70.

Yeah maybe if they follow the shop manual and take out the mechanical fan it would take 3 hours. I did it in an hour at my buddy's shop without taking out the fan. Its doable.

Nice to know this--I way over estimated. --I've taken out the fan before hence my estimate--but--I'm no pro, just capable of working my way through the car.
