Hmm, in the non-m world, seems everyone preferred the laser platinums to the iridiums, even though the iridiums were almost $5/plug cheaper. Interesting that the iridium seems to be the preference here. Probably doesn't really make a difference at the end of the day. I'll probably go with the laser platinums since that's what came stock and I never had an issue with them

From researching this question my conclusion is to use the OEM plugs that the engine was designed for. Engine design engineers want the engine to have good performance as well as durability. It is a balance and I trust the design engineer.

It's a spark plug. It's gonna spark. As long as it's the right temperature and a good brand, it'll be fine.

This car wasn't "designed" around the dual electrode platinum plug - it was probably a business agreement to promote NGK's latest nice plug. Wouldn't want their consumers to "settle" with the basic coppers on such a premium vehicle don't you know. Or so that they'd last beyond the warranty period.

I prefer the single electrode copper NGKs because that's what I always used in my race bikes and this car. I believe it best that electricity have only electrode to travel down rather than choosing between two though it probably doesn't matter.

Iridium and platinum are for longevity and I have no problem changing my plugs every 30k as I'll do a valve adjustment then anyway.

Going with the OE maintenance parts is always a good idea but there are other parts that can be equal or better.

Somehow I don't think it was necessary to bump a 7 year old thread on spark plugs for the sake of your useless input typed in pink font.

If money isn't the issue then the best would be Denso (5730) IXU01-24 Iridium Racing Spark Plug. You have to manually gap them though. They are also almost $30 each, so there's that.
