As long as the car is under warranty, any parts and service should be zero cost.

Your vehicle was, I suspect, not under warranty when whomever attempted to resolve the problem.

The cost you mentioned seems very great if only a new battery and an EDC module were involved.

In any event, it is good to know that all is well with your car.
