Consensus is that it might be hydro locked. The shop is of course busy and are hoping to dig into it tomorrow. If this is the case, what should I expect?

Hydrolocked, did you suck in a bunch of water?

One time I was driving a horrible rain storm in my Jetta GLI and I sucked up a bunch of water from the terrible ram air kit the previous owner had installed. Car started to act funky, I was going to a hockey game but by this point traffic was so bad and the CEL was on so I put my 4 way on drove an hour back down the highway. Car died in the cul de sac in front of my drive way. I left it there over night, went out the next day, pulled the plugs and cranked, buttoned it back up and it rain fine. Immediately swapped out the terrible intake for just a cone filter at the end up the intake piping.

I probably should re word it. Possibly fuel related and a bunch of fuel filled the misfiring cylinder, does that make sense? I did check the oil and it looked fine, not milky.

I have lost coils many times on many different brands it will run like crap but your not going to lock up your engine, the cylinder will blow the unburnt fuel out the exhaust valve. If this shop is telling your motor is locked up take it somewhere else they most likely are getting ready to take advantage of you IMHO.

Also please elaborate on did not turn over? Do you mean the engine cranked but wouldn't fire or do you mean you turned the key and nothing happened?

Was it smoking (black) when it quit running? If so, it's possible a fuel injector could be stuck open. This happened to a relative's audi.

Didn't notice any smoke but the wife was driving at the time. Did have an odd smell when we got out of the car but with all the smoke from the fires its hard to say if it was related.
