I already made an SMG pump relocation kit. I relocated it from the engine bay to the trash and put a stick in!

I'm impressed it only took until page 2 and 12 comments in, for this comment to pop-up. Glad you got your SMG-woes sorted.

The SMG sucks, it's slow, it's jerky, it over-heats, it reduces resale value, it's unreliable, it's expensive to replace, and the only solution is to manual-swap it. Got it! #manualtransmissionisthemasterrace #SMGisforpeasantsthatcan'twork3pedals

Now that we got that out of the way, lets keep this thread on topic. There are plenty of other threads to share your thoughts on manual-swapping the car. This thread is not the place.

If you don't like the SMG (which is completely fine), then this won't be the kit for you, nor a thread that you would find much interest in.

*I'm not directing this comment at you personally. It was bound to come up whether you posted about it or someone else, but not every SMG thread needs to turn into that debate. I know you are merely joking, which I can appreciate, but eventually the debate just gets exhausting and comments like that only serve to be the catalyst.

I actually still have SMG in the convertible. And remain impressed by it in many many situations.

But noone else had said it yet so I had to. By rule. You understand.

Completely understand.

I'd rather get it out of the way sooner than later.

You have the best of both worlds. Manual for the coupe and SMG for the vert. I'm envious.

I love my SMG but the recent problems in this crazy heat (125f + high humidity) has stopped me from enjoying the car. It's been parked for the last two months.

Looking forward to what you bring out...I hope it'll be at a reasonably affordable price point.

That will be the intention. I hate needless markups. Obviously it is way too early for me to think about price points, but from the outside, it seems like it should be relatively simple to mock-up and design. This is not intended to be a "get-rich quick" scheme. Rather the intention is to fix a problem that seems to already have a well-thought out solution, but one that currently doesn't exist 'off the shelf'. Personally, I am growing impatient waiting on someone else to design one. I would have liked to have had this done last December. It seems simple enough and with the skills of my fabricator friend, I can't imagine it will be too difficult.

The one thing I have noticed with my driving habits is that I seem to be scheduling my errands and driving around what time of day it is to avoid traffic or mid-day summer heat. Realizing this pattern forming, I know I need to to get this solution sorted sooner rather than later and waiting on someone else to step-up to the plate doesn't seem proactive enough on my timeline.

The hottest months for us are July and august with temps up to 125f or near that constantly. Right now at 22:06 it is approx 40c!

I guess I'm either really Lucky or I have a SMG Unicorn! We have the same temps here in July and Aug. I DD mine all year and so far (knock on wood) haven't had a single issue yet.
