Default Re: Does the E36 M3 tranny have a VIN stamped on it?

There is a VIN sticker on my 95 M3 LTW trans and I know the original engine had a VIN sticker or else I wouldn't care so much about it not being with the car LOL. You can see (the trans sticker) looking under the car from the drivers side if its jacked up.

Im quite sure E36s had VIN tags on engine/trans...although maybe they skipped the automatic cars

Yeah, its Sams old car, would like to get $14,5-15k for it, just had the headliner done along with a couple other little things, comes with a boatload of extra parts as well. It's the nicest example of these I've seen in over 10 years.

I just don't get it.
The guy is looking at a 6 speed sedan then expecting a VIN# on it like he's some savvy collector, but doesn't have the knowledge to know the car never was offered with a 6 speed. I'm actually rattled. And I think you should list here and BF. I'm sure plenty of people know Sam's car and what was put into it via those avenues. Hell I don't even like byzanz and I absolutely love the car knowing the quality that was put into it.

...and for a $250 difference?
If $250 is not gonna let the buyer eat for the week, he should move back in with Mom.

I'm going to pull the car out of the garage and give it a good wash and take quality pics before putting up on here. Thanks guys!

As westopher said, that's not the right buyer for your car. He's living in a #'s matching muscle car world (not that there's anything wrong with that) This is a sign of the times as the E36 gains some momentum. Get used to it.

I do as well. The numbers were hardly visible last time I was under the car. I guess I should try to get a pic before it's totally destroyed.

This. I'd tell the buyer to pound sand. A comment like that serves two purposes: (i) the buyer isn't 100% committed and he's looking for an excuse not to buy, and (ii) he's trying to mess with your head by getting you to believe your car isn't 100% original and thus not worth the asking price.

Buyer's logic would make sense if the car was originally configured with a 5 speed gearbox. But if he wants an automatic, he should be looking a car so equipped.

What rear end is in the car? Is Buyer crying about how that's not original, too?

I say raise your asking price. A six speed swap is an extremely desirable modification.
