Kind of interesting, keep us all posted. You getting the car would be a pretty cool ending to this story.

You don't work for Allcom? Perhaps he's back from an 'extended' assignment reverse engineering the competition?

GL on your pursuit!

Following along with interest - hope you get the car. Can you find out where it was towed to? I'm sure it's racking up storage fees by the day so maybe you can get in there and scoop it up?

In hindsight, would you have taken a different approach? Thinking parking security didn't do you any favors?

It sounds to me like security did not do you any favors to me as well. I wonder if they took your inquiry as a complaint and then used it as the catalyst to have it towed. Like saying it is policy to not make moves like that until someone "complains".

Perhaps it was unintentional how it happened?
The security guard told his boss about the inquiry, boss starts asking questions about the car, gets the details, considers it a failure in maintaining the lot, makes the decision to tow it sooner than later so no more complaints are made. Maybe the security guard (the person that made the call) knows the tow company REALLY well and shares with them how to make a fast buck because they know someone is interested.

Ask security guard for their tow company info and go find where they took it. I would also ask who called the tow company and under who's direction was the call made?

I think one of three things probably happened:
1) Security called the owner, he decided to get it off the lot and move it to another location.
2) Security called him and told him to tow it or they'll tow it for him.
3) Security decided to use it as a complaint and tow the car.

In hindsight, I should have just filed the title request to begin with and pinged the guy at work randomly one day. I wouldn't be surprised to find out if the owner is pissed with me for asking questions and forcing him to either move the car or have it towed.

Either way, I'll have some kind of resolution today I hope. Staring at the owners profile in our internal directory now. He's a trader so I'm not going to bother him during market hours but will shoot him a ping around 430 or so.

Equal chance of him being thrilled to have a buyer lined up with no work whatsoever. Best of luck!

All of those 3 are possible...start with some humility?

Only reason I didn't list that is because Security said they would pass my info along. I just assumed they would as it would have helped them get the car off the lot but i suppose it's totally reasonable to assume they did not.

Sorry I thought I closed the loop on all of this.

Unfortunately, there was no happy ending. The owner's refused to talk or respond to me; emailed and pinged him on our internal chat a few times. I am assuming that he wasn't thrilled that I probably caused the loss of his free storage parking.
