Default 96 M3 Boston Green Coupe - Couldn't Resist

A couple years ago I test drove a Ladie's Boston green coupe with 267,000 miles. I liked the color ever since. Laura thought she had gold and I couldn't meet her price. She later sold it for $4,000. Since then, I've kept an eye out for a Boston Green coupe. 200k+ miles wasn't the concern. It was the value. Once these cars hit 200k, the re-sale value dives. Low and behold, one poped up 3 miles away.

After a test drive, Louis and I talked price and we were close. We headed to the smog shop. For some reason, sellers avoid smog tests like the plague. "Oh no! 50 bux is gunna kill me if I don't sell it in the next 90 days!", they think. Whatever. If the smog technician won't pass it, I won't buy it.

Long story short, it passed smog but the catalytic converter wasn't on the CA DMV database. Yada Yada..... The car passed smog after showing the technician DMV Executive Order D-193-89, which he read wrong. This later turned out to bite me.

I know the color changed to Fern Green in March of 98 but I liked the "Boston" name. I've never been to Boston. I never plan to go there. I just prefer Boston name and the color. No offense, Edgy (owns nicest Fern I know). In general, Fern green is darker than Boston green.

About the car
96 Boston on Grey Manual Vaders on DS2s. 150,000 miles. 3-spoke wheel. X-brace. CD43. JTD Underpanel. New Zimmerman rotors and Eagle GT tires. Cooling refreshed. Excellent paint. The bad..... Tired driver's seat, beat suspension, and a bunch of lesser things.

First orders of business
Washed and Waxed to preserve paint while other things happen.
Prepped for Dent Artist (Malcom 650-222-2333).
Inspected for refresh priorities.
First round of parts ordered. TBPS, Pelican, Bimmerworld.

learn something new everyday. didnt know the official color is called Boston Green. Is there a reason why they use Boston as the name of the color?

Thanks. The wife didn't really think I needed another project but I showed her. Did I just say that? I'm in trouble now.

It has DEPO headlights. I like the glass. I don't like the 6000k HID low-beams, however. It has a ballast box and the bulbs are different and there is wiring, etc... Does someone know to revert the HIDs back to stock?

Maybe someone wants the 6000k HID Low Beams. They look blue.

Haus helped me break the fan clutch free. WD-40 soaking was the key.

Couldn't resist? Nice looking BG coupe!

I'll send you a PM regarding removing the HIDs... it should be pretty easy as long as the factory harness is uncut.
