I have a lot of first hand experience with VAC, but please, he who lives on the other side of the country, enlighten me about the shop that is 30 minutes away from me.

BE bearings makes increased clearance bearings that are probably the best fix if that is the problem.

Later years are not improved vs earlier years for bearing reliability.

VAC is a shit show-- if you value your car, don't let them or their parts touch it. Their initial s65 solution was coated stock bearings, further decreasing clearances.

Congrats man! Sorry that Stig & Serious are about to ruin your thread.

I would just use a 0W40 oil and enjoy parking in hoes apartment parking complexes without worry. And wear a condom.

Congrats! Love my E90 myself. It's my understanding the newer bearing are made of aluminum and tin that are also harder than previous copper bearings. They changed for emissions/green purposes and aren't the fix. Quite a bit a reading threads and consensus is BE increased clearances bearings the way to go, coating alone isn't the fix.

At the end of the day, enjoy the car and if something pops up, fix it! DCT is fun but a manual is still a bit more engaging, you just can't beat the quickness of the up/down shifts of the DCT. A GTS tune is well worth it as well

Congrats!

RE: bearings, some have pulled the WPC and the BE bearings after a few thousand miles, and based on that extremely limited sampling the BE's looked better for wear. The BE's also have a copper layer, so the wear can be monitored with oil analysis.
