Default Re: Identifying the MSS5x DME’s Hardware Variant and Program Version

Going by process of elimination, the program space for 2301 is probably 7842355

Note the MSS54.HWH file

Code:
;Hardwarehistorie vom 24.04.2009 10:16
7832207A F , 7832594A F , 7832868A F , 7833145A F , 7833284A F , 7833892A F , 7835584A F , 7837941A F , 7842353A F , 7842559A F , 7842975A F ;
7834910A F , 7835564A F , 7836454A F , 7837805A F , 7842355A F , 7842569A F , 7842981A F ;
7834326A F , 7834530A F ;
7834981A F , 7837340A F ;
Each line represents a distinct hardware variant

7834326 and 7834530 look to be unreleased versions. My best guess is that they're prototype CSL variants (2113 2400?)

I'm good with that, will link to this post until it's been verified. I've requested a full dump, which should do the trick when provided.

It is interesting to consider what may come from the woodwork. P60B40?

Maybe. My other thought is it could be whatever mss5x variant they used to build that X5 with an SMG S62 (MSS52HP?)

Read about it here. They have a picture, but it doesn't really look any different than a normal X5 4.6

Someone needs to sneak in there and quickly do a BMWFlash read

Maybe worth emailing them and asking? I doubt we'd make it past the spam filter, but who knows?

Edit:

In this one you can see they used LSB leather, which makes the car that much more awesome lol

Not to re-bring it up.. But I did a full and partial dump on my mss54 and I too had the addy of BFB8 in a 2200 2101. I looked all over for it at the other address and finally searched the other addy and found it. Makes me wonder if other things are in diff locations.?. using bmw flash

On a partial dump, the address for the version string on a 2113 2200 2101 binary is absolutely at 0x7FB8.

Your address at 0xBFB8 for a partial dump would put you at decimal offset 49080, which is not possible for a properly-oriented 32kb partial read. If you can send me your binary via eMail, I'll take a look to see what's going on.
