If they used genuine BMW parts and their labor rate is in the $125-$175 range then that charge looks about right based on my guess.

Don't have an issue with the cost. Maybe, and I mean maybe, an hour too much labor but that is it.

Edit: And like bigjae1976 I'm assuming BMW parts.

Also did you get any kind of warranty on parts and installation? The guy I use on the occasion (e39 m5 owner) I need advice or help gives 2 year 24k warranty if he supplies parts. Of course he pads a little like your guy has done.

BMW parts have a 2yr/50k warranty the last time I checked.

I mean even if the part bites the dust within 2 years or 24k he doesn't charge any labor to replace.

As a former service adviser of a few independent BMW repair shops it looks like they cut you a slight break on the labor hours (due to overlapping jobs) and charged you MSRP on all the parts. Socal prices wise, I'd say it's fair.

Where they failed is they did not build enough value into their work. If they were successful at that you wouldn't be on here questioning their prices. Generally, you want the customer to feel comfortable, have a good understanding of the work performed on their vehicle, and out the door with confidence that they made the right choice in allowing the shop to work on their vehicle.

I would've asked for OEM parts and not OE BMW parts. Better yet, if they allow you to bring in your own parts you can purchase via FCPEuro which gives you lifetime warranty and you would've saved a ton. For example the OEM (Mahle) fan clutch is about $88 compared to the $300 for the OE BMW.
