Local guy has an E30 with S54....Sold his M4 to build it (errr from what I am told, pay a shop for the build) and apparently dropped a LOT of money in doing so. Doesn't quite have the sound (ie: disappointing) that our cars have (probably due to his stock intake and whatever exhaust he has), but man is it a cool car and very well put together. He has the original Recaro branded E30 buckets...fully integrated dash and just very cleanly done. For the price, it should be though considering he could have just kept the M4. That car is FAST though with how little it weighs. I'm sure it would blow my doors off. Seems like the biggest issue with that swap is traction and no longer really being able to push it in the corners like you typically would an E30, with all the added power.

Thanx man! I'll just take solace in knowing that I helped to introduce a pretty kool product to the forum. Everything else is pretty much secondary to me at this point...and at least I already have mine.

What does he have for an exhaust where the sound is disappointing? I am going to be running SSV1 headers, CSL intake with TTFS head and 288/280 cams so I didn't consider that sound would be an issue. Traction is always an issue.

I hadn't really considered an e30s54 carbon driveshaft group buy would be a thing but there may be enough interest to get a group of 5-10 people.

No idea what he is running. All I know is he had stock US headers. You should not have any issue with sound from what you typed above. That is going to be A MONSTER combination in power, weight....and sound.

Same for me too with my s54 M coupe. Swapped in the 6-speed and I have the e36 auto driveshaft half-assed in there now...been looking for a proper solution for a long time...

I think the r3vlimited forum would be a good place to get group buy participants for an e30 s54 swap driveshaft. There is a specific section on that forum for s54 swaps. I am interested but personally not in a huge rush as my e30 just got to the port and I’m a long ways out from competing the swap. If we got enough people to get a low price then I’d be willing to commit.

I would be a buyer for one at least. It would be a custom length and also the attachment to the diff is different (4 bolt with ujoint) but not unlike what it looks like they sell for other non-BMW stuff.
