None of that is necessary for it to be reliable. But, certainly would add power, which is fun. 12.5:1 will require race fuel, which is less fun.

Euro cars seem to burn out head gaskets faster than US cars for reasons unknown. Going forward, starting ~50,000 miles in, I'd start checking the compression every spring. Noticing the failure before it becomes an issue is the cheap/reliable way to stay on top of this going forward.

Rod bearings are absolutely a good idea. As are doing the Beisan VANOS lockdowns, if you haven't already.
My theory is that all the euro cars run much leaner than US ones. I know because both my car and my friend's run in the 13s on WOT, while a third US one runs 12s:1 afr. The dyno operator noted that as well, all euro e46 m3s he dynos run much leaner for some reason. I would imgaine leaner is hotter and there goes the head gasket.

With 288 schrick cams how will it set at idle?

I will also ask for Mahle pistons as the factory is near me in Gemany.

Do you think 400hp is possible?

Somehow I am trying to convince myself that dumping almost 10k in the engine at least I want to have a bulletproof reliable engine with some extta power ( not expectig some crazy number ofcourse but at least a solid 400hp along wit some weight reduction might do the trick.

Thank you
I think if you dump the "stage 2 custom headers" and go with SSV1 stepped headers, you'll easily be there.

I can't read "custom" as anything other than "worse and unproven, might lose power vs stock". Headers (correctly made ones) are a mathematically engineered product that need to then be tested, tweaked, retested, retweaked, retested, retweaked, retested, retweaked, retested, retweaked, retested, retweaked, retested, retweaked, retested, retweaked, retested, retweaked, retested, retweaked, retested, retweaked, retested, retweaked, retested, retweaked, and then produced consistently.

"custom" just can't have a proper development process to be anything other than worse, and most "custom" exhaust builders don't do any sort of engineering beforehand.

By custom I mean from the guys at www.motorsport24.de that only build race cars and cars for VLN 24h Nurburgring races. So At that point I dont question that there will be any issues.

Regarding the pistons just got off the phone with Mahle Motorsport factory here in Germany and came a deal to send my old piston and they will make me pistons to my spec 87.5mm bore and 12.5 CR

They say they have off the self but just for oem CR if I want higher than they will make me one to my spec, and the price is not that bad at all. Around 1500eur for the set.

Now with your imput still debating wheather its worth the extra money to go with Carillo rods over Arrow?

Thank you

Go with whichever rods are cheaper...they're both more than adequate for the job.

Thanks,
None of us with CSL boxes are running mafs.

Some are running stock engine management in alpha N, some are running csl engine management with the map sensor retrofitted.

Thanks,
I'm not familiar w/that company, but if it's a true (MAF-less) CSL style airbox, then Ian is correct...the MAF sensor/housing is no longer used.

Ok so here is the final confirmed order

JE Pistons 87.5mm bore with 12.5CR
Arrow forged rods with arp bolts
schrick 288/280 camschafts
Schrick DLC followers
Schrick valve spring
Schrick retainers
Maneliey oversize 1mm+ intake valves
Maneliey oversize 1mm+ exhaust valves
uprated main bearings
uprated con rod bearings
Full ARP head set
Uprated head gasket
Supersprint headers
CSL style airbox

The mapping will probbably be done by Aplha N performance Germany at their shop as they told me they would need the car for a good 5 days to run a good clean map...

Just cant wait to have this done as hoping for at least 400hp on 100oct gas...
