Thanks terra.

This makes sense to me; what you've seen on the inside, and Colorado dyno emissions sniffer results I've had with both the stock US headers and with a Euro headers/Euro section 1.

Yeah, as that document states, the cats are moved closer to the head to meet LEV I (aka California) emissions. I'm pretty sure the Euro setup would have been more than sufficient in the non-California emissions states. That document shows the M3 came in at much less than what the Euro emissions required, and the EPA requirements were not that much more strict at the time

Euro III should read 2000, not 2009. So basically, until 2004, the Euro emissions were more strict than the EPA. And even in 2004, the EPA emissions were only stricter for NOx. According to that ArvinMerritor PDF, the Euro setup only emitted 17.49% NOx of the Euro limit

BMW didn't screw up at all if you're not counting the NA Cat placement and rasp, (which I personally love). The stock muffler is ideal for highway and city when you're not "on it", it's quiet and comfortable. What's not mentioned in the thread is how much many of these setups drone at high way speeds and the lengths people have go to solve it.

Also please use periods and spell check, your posts are always one big hard to read sentence.
