Yes, even though my vanos didnít do any rattle.
Itís only on cold start and for one second.

Did u check the oil pressure or vanos? it needs a to be at 110 bar. Check that and report back .

You mean vanos test with GT1?
How can i check the oil pressure?
Is there any valve inside the oil filter housing that could be stuck?

My co-worker's M3 has exactly the same symptoms.
Could it be also the oil pump chain being loose and rubbing the pump neck?
Or the timing chain itself, slide rail at the right or twin chain tensioner at bottom left?
He has done also a complete Vanos overhaul.
