Default Re: What did you do to/for your ///M today?

Well, from the weekend -

Removed rear bearings, hubs.
Installed new bearings, hubs and axles.
New park brake shoes, springs etc.
New injectors.
Cleaned the ICV.
Installed new throttle position sensors.
Buttoned up the intake after the injector job and the complete cooling overhaul done the previous week.

I used the Posi-lock 108 puller to push both of the old axles out. Once out I hit the splines on the old axles with a grinder, re-installed them into the hubs and let them loosely sit against the diff flanges. Then used the Posi-lock again to pull the hubs off - pushing against the old axles.

Getting the new axles in I used the proper tool to pull the axles into the hubs, no banging or bashing on CV's.

It's been a fun couple of weeks!

The beer tastes o so sweet tonight!

Bled the brakes and clutch after the CDV delete and the ECS braided line when in. Gear changes are sooooooo much better!

Coolant bleed.

Buttoned everything back up after the last month of working on the car.

Drove to the bottleshop as a test drive and had a few cold ones to sign off the job!

Car drives beautifully. Feels new.

Next: rod bearings, oil cooler, power steering lines/reservoir, fuel pump...

After that it's wish list stuff.

Default What did you do to/for your ///M today?

I took apart my rear deck to fix the rattle and dye the deck back to black. Upon taking out the c-pillars I broke one clip and it looks like a PO broke another and the part that attaches behind the light so I fixed it up at work tonight on my break with a little 6367 and 120 glass.

Quick Wash Video

Here's a short clip I did of washing the exterior of my car a couple months back.

I wash the exterior of my car more or less every week (weather permitting) and the interior once a month. As it is a weekend toy my interior doesn't really require much other than a quick hoover and every 3 months I protect the leather with Simoniz.

For those interested in how I wash my car: I use the snowfoam / 2 bucket method and wax the car every 3 months.

As you will see in the last image of the video, there are quite a few swirls in the paint. However I won't be addressing these with a detail as I am putting her in for a full respray next year.

N.B. this is not a tutorial on how to wash your car (there are already loads on YouTube), it's more about just having a bit of fun with the GoPro.

Completed the OEM LED tail lamp retrofit JUST in time for it to stall while idling in the driveway as I was wrapping up the LSZ recoding. It restarted immediately, then promptly started running like ASS and threw a P0172/P0175 Bank1/Bank2 rich, 90/91 fuel trim control codes. Stinks of raw fuel at idle and stalls randomly.

Ugh.

Broke out the scanner, all 4 O2 sensors switching normally (I'm catless, so the rear 2 are coded out/irrelevant), LT fuel trims at -20%, MAF reading ~18-20kg/hr at idle, 20%ish engine load at 29 degrees ambient temp with the engine not fully warmed up. Other than fuel trims, readings are basically within normal ranges from what I've read.

Guess I'll be pulling it in the shop this weekend and checking fuel pressures and looking for leaky injectors.

I have a ho-hum entry... The passenger front "OG" 547R wheel developed a crack at the base of one of the spokes on the split spoke design. I bought a replacement for a grip of cash from HRE! Now, I can race around win my hair on fire without worrying that my front wheel will disintegrate and then putting me in a ditch. Frankly, I don't need any help in finding ditches; I'm capable of doing that unassisted! Hah!
