Silly question of the day...what's the nominal lifespan of the rear springs for a street-only vehicle? I believe i read that the shocks and struts are affected by lowering, but is this the case for springs as well?

Saw this too late! You need to go to Total M Car (fellow member owns it: Coinage) in Annville, PA. Hands down one of the best S54 Indy mechanics on the east coast. You should look through my maintenance thread:

The man is a genius. Have your VANOS thoroughly inspected when you do a valve adjustment.
