Thats a good one too but the e30 seems to be somewhat doing okay and bmw made so many e46s and M3's that I think/hope we will be okay until our brains are on the cloud. Then it wont really matter.

It will Need a bunch of parts and im essentially where i am now So i keep mine. Sure, mine will have 250k by then but so what. With the 25k you save buying a low mileage m3 I can put that to a 911 in 5 years (which is really what we all want lol) and still have my 250k mile m3 to dick around with and do a full restoration on it.
I do wonder how the chassis itself will age which is my biggest concern. I mean, will it flex much more, will the doors literally fall off, will it rust through or will it just start falling apart and slowly get so loose it feels like a wet noodle?
If i keep it i might just put a full cage in to potentially address all that flex.

If i sold mine for 8 which id be happy with honestly, i would strongly consider going into an e92. For 20k i can get one with around 80k and good history.
Dct, no nav, cf roof, fbo, gut it, some suspension work/ e88 and im done.

Thanks

Did it take a while to sell, was it a pain?

For reference, my 2002 Titanium 6-speed was 6k from a sketchy dealer in Tennessee. 176k miles, interior was iffy at best, no accidents, CSL bumper and trunk, otherwise stock.

My 2005 Titanium SMG was 5k at an estate sale in Carolina. 175k miles, interior bad, paint bad, no accidents, couple choice mods (Coilovers, new FCABs, new driveshaft, sunroof delete.)

Neither had the Subframe or VANOS done, and i did use that to push the price down from their initial asking price. That said, the reduced price was still not as much as a subframe reinforcement and VANOS job would be at the shop.

In regards to how quickly it'll sell, it's iffy. It will attract people who like the E46s, but can't really afford them. It's not going to be too attractive for track guys due to effectively being stock without the RACP and VANOS taken care of. E46 fanatics won't really gravitate towards it because of mileage and the color combo.
Would think that it would sell quicker with the damage fixed, though.

Let me know if you decide to sell it. I have issues and seems like i'm attempting to buy all the high mileage E46s around lately...

I don't. It's a super popular platform that they made a ton of and the Germans in general are really excellent about long term parts support. It should be fine.

Sell your car and parts. Pay off any debts. Save money until you can buy what you truly want. This requires discipline and will be hard but it is the best plan of action. Immediate gratification versus a long term plan well executed. Take your pick.

I guess, only reason to sell would be to fund a e92
Might sell all my parts and fix the car. Then make it my daily and sell my current daily. Then stripped e92 on some e88s
Idk, might just keep dumping too. We’ll see.
All this thread did if anything was confirm selling the e46 isnt worth it.
Current market value doesnt add up for me. Rather just keep it in the stable than sell to some one who doesnt have a clue lol.

Yeah I understand. Selling it for 8-10k would suck cause that number is so slow. But also keep in mind that it’s going to continue to be expensive to maintain and you could be using that money on your upcoming new car.

People offer very well maintained m3’s on this forum and you could get a nice one for 15-20k with around 100k Miles. And the investments will be more with it in that car. I would sell yours and get another one.

The e90 is also good but it’s way different than the E46. I prefer E46.
Will be interesting to see what you will end up doing.

10k is a 140k manual coupe. Id say at 190k you're closer to 7k. My current late model 1-owner 6-speed Imola with 180k was 6.5k .
