If it’s a shop worth going to and they’re busy...they’re probably going to tell you no thanks.

Biggest money maker in auto repair is parts. Take that out of the equation, not worth the time.

I don't disagree with you that they make money off the parts. Although, every reputable shop that I've gone to had no problem with my supplying my own parts (esp if they are OE/OEM). Although these days I DIY or have a local m3 enthusiast (ie playskool1) do the work for me

The shop wouldn't allow me to bring parts. I've been ordering parts from FCP and ECS for minor repairs and maintenance. For the record, I am happy with what they've done so far, no issues.

OE Water pump lists for $300 now? Been a while since I looked, but seems low.

ECS has a list price of $300 on the dot but their actual price is $249. Looks to be standard pricing.

I work in high-end government aviation, our shop rate is $75/hr, does shop rate matter if it is an honest shop?

That labor price reminds me why I like working on my own car.
