a pristine and unmolested E30 M3 will likely sell for more than it was purchased for, including inflation.

M3's are not investments, clearly depreciation is slower than common cars....

The only time i would consider buying a vehicle as an investment would be if was planning on selling it for more then its worth(I got it for) after im done with it.
Currently getting a 03 M3 80km for around 19-20grand, Im sure i can drive it to 100km and then get 22grand for it in my area , but every location is different and regarding high maintenance vehicles...... I rather put my investment money els-wear

While they might have a negative ROI, what little depreciation they do experience these days is a drop in the bucket compared to how much fun it is to drive an M3 every day.

The majority of massed produced cars (M3's included) have the investment potential of other appliances like your washing machine. It's rare and unusual cars that have investment potential (I'm happy my M-Coupe isn't dropping in value.. but it's a whole big bunch more rare then an E46/M3..) Right now the only "investment" M3 would be an E30.. and it would have to be a perfect one. Rust (which they're prone to) kill the value.
