Did mine this weekend with kidrobot, he did an awesome job I'm still putting car back together but after we were done it fired right up and numbers look okay on vanos test.
Zep industrial cleaner did a great job cleaning the parts lol.

Thanks OP this is a great thread! Is it really necessary to purchase all the parts on the spreadsheet? All the vanos rebuilds/refresh I've seen they usually just buy the beisan parts and hub (If needed). Is it a bad idea to replace only the beisan parts and hub? Should I not reuse any parts listed on the spreadsheet? Sorry if these are dumb questions, I just wasn't aware so much needed to be replaced for the vanos rebuild. Thanks again!

Thanks, glad to help out. I would recommend everything on the list. The hub and sprocket bolts from Lang Racing are $22 shipped. The bolts are easy to change while your in there and have been known to break. The chain guide is a must, mine was broken just like most are. If you car is running good you can take the Beisan solenoid valve off the list ($150) as it's easy to change later if it goes bad. Depending on the mileage of your car you can reuse the VCG per Rajaie from Beisan. I just did mine and I have 107K and the VCG looked great. If you decide to get a new one go with an OE BMW VCG. The Elring gaskets have been known to leak.

I have the complete S54 Timing Tool Kit if you need it.

Bro... You're f'n awesome. I purchased the Lang bolts last month along with the valve tool so I'm good with that. I just broke 100k and I'm hearing a new noise at the 3500rpm-4000rpm range... I figured I'd rip the vanos apart assuming that is the culprit and it wouldn't hurt to refresh it anyway. I've got new eibach suspension, 4.10 r&p, full csl convert, rear subframe reinforcement, headers sec 1,2 and 3, power pulleys and a few more odds and ends in my room waiting for me to put them on. Iots to do, may as well do It at the same time. Thanks again for the help!

Wow sounds like you have some work to do. Nice upgrades! Remember to stuff rags down inside the timing chain area so you don't drop bolts or tools down inside the engine. Also when you set your timing, crank the engine by hand several times to make sure nothing is binding before starting the car. Good luck to ya!
