Default Re: ULF Gen 8 Pix

I have a Gen 13 (in car) and a spare Gen10 ULF, if I can help Tera?

The Gen13 has twice the memory of any of the others, so not sure about flashing older units with gen13 firmware.

I know there was talk of guys from Eastern Europe being able to flash them but as yet I've not see one done 100% (they report updated, but when you check the firmware, they still report the OEM version).

If it's just twice as much RAM, it shouldn't be a big deal. Someone on m3cutters apparently managed to update them and they report themselves as C13. No details as to how they did it. MCU to be an undocumented update to the MPC823 CPUs, so talking to it should be possible

That said, someone posted up Gen 13 pics somewhere here, and both the RAM chip and main flash appeared to have the same markings. So I don't know where the increased contact capacity is coming from

What's the benefit of the newer load?

OOh la la, want!

From a software standpoint, the software algorithm in the DSP was changed in the newer ULF modules offering another significant voice quality improvement over the earlier version ULF modules. This change was the most significant, although other software changes include changes to the Bluetooth OBEX profile allowing the transfer of phonebooks from more Bluetooth phones to the BMW's displays.

I have a Gen 13 on the way now. I'll be able to compare how the bluetooth and audio performance compares to my Gen 3. And if I ever figure out how to talk to this microcontroller, I'll be able to get a Gen 13 dump without having to borrow someone else's unit.

So I got the Gen 13 in, coded it, and paired my phone.

So far it seems like the voice quality is notably improved. I gave my mom a quick call, and she said I sounded about as clear as I do when calling from the E60. It was also easier to understand her. I deliberately was driving a bit quick and revving out the car to create more ambient noise too. I'll have to do more testing to be certain, but so far it seems pretty good.

Downside: It seems to break Siri, at least on my jailbroken 6 plus.

I was going to upgrade my ULF from Gen8 to Gen13, i didn't realise there may be coding to too.

Is there any advantage to coding GM5 modules to the latest firmware ?

Could this be found via NCSdummy without connect to a car ?

There was a revised microphone made available later on too.

The coding was configuration. The ULF module has different dsp settings for different chassis and audio configurations, so for it to work optimally, you have to recode the module with NCS. I didn't touch the gm5.

My car came with the latest version of the mic from the factory.
