Well I can't find anything on these CPUs. The main flash seems to be that small BGA chip - Intel 28F128J3C. One possible route might be to remove that and flash it externally... but BGA work is a bit beyond my expertise.

So I could be completely off here, but based on the mask (2J13D), I'm guessing that CPU a is a newer undocumented version of the mpc823e
