As we are working through coding different modules i thought there might be some features we could gain by updating the firmware in the GM5. I should have started another thread.

I just thought i would mention the 2 different mic's for the benefit of others interested in ULF upgrades

Well gm5 can't be updated with WinKFP or anything like that. I've never opened one up, so I don't know if it can be updated via a debug interface. I'm pretty sure my car has the latest version, but I don't think there were many major features introduced over the years on that module.

Bumping this up -- got my xprog-m connected to the ULF, but I can't read anything off it. It's apparently an MPC variant that it doesn't recognize

When I look up that PVR, it seems to correspond to an MPC8xx (which does jive with my hypothesis that this CPU is related to the MPC823e)

Not really, but mostly because I haven't had the time to pursue it. Should be able to dump the software if I can get an interface that is capable of BDMing into an MPC8xx processor.
