On another note, I was helping a lady friend paint the calipers on her Porsche tonight and decided to see what it would look like on my car.

This picture isn't a great representation thanks to the flash but I got home late. It doesn't look nearly as fluorescent in person.

Do I like it? Kind of. The color that is. It's obviously a little too much for stock calipers but I'm seriously considering a yellow BBK now. So I am now taking donations for the BBK fund. Please inquire by PM for my PayPal.

The M3 is more playful. It allows you to swing your tail around while still in complete control of the car. The suspension is also on a different level. Motor though, I'd have to say the N54 takes it in the power department. You'd have to supercharge the M to even stand a chance. I regularly put several car lengths on my friend's FBO e90 M3. But that's in a straight line of course.

The M3 can't be touched in the thrill level as you get above 6000 rpm though.
thanks for a great comparison....335i was def. a sleeper, lovin it.....oh and yellow bbk with the topaz blue will be

Update part 1: calipers are no longer boy racer yellow. I think it would look cool with a BBK but not stock calipers.

part 2: Finally got around to installing my Auto Solutions SSK.

Install was a royal PITA. With gloves you were unable to feel anything and without them.... let's just say my hands are still healing. Blood, tears, and sweat was shed in the fight to get the carrier back in with the clip.

There are several great DIY guides out there for this and I think we all know how much of a pain this is to install. I was considering taking it to a shop but at the end of the day I am a DIY guy and I'd rather spend the money on parts than on stuff I can do myself over a weekend.

I would highly recommend having a helper present. I bribed mine with pizza and beer. Wouldn't have been able to finish without two sets of hands and the ability to have one push on the carrier pin while one rocked the carrier a little.

Driving is much improved though. I no longer feel like I'm awkwardly brushing up against my passengers when I shift to 5th. I also don't have to reach a full arm's length to reach 5th. With the 30% reduction, shifts are incredibly crisp and the throw is perfect IMO. The sloppiness is gone and there is very little movement side to side of she shifter. Almost none at all in gear.

All in all, it was money well spent and a good experience. I am glad I will never have to get back in there to do this install again though.
