Bill...you can have a small or large dog in an apartment or a house. Getting a dog exercise is the critical part regardless of their size. A dog won't be exercising indoors even if you have a 4000sq ft home...

We also do dog day care/camp for exercise and social development...

If a dog is getting his energy out inside your place, you, and they are gonna have a bad time. Monty is a supposed pit/shepherd and his personality could definitely come in line with that. He’s hyper, outgoing, has high prey drive and high energy. We live in a 650sq/ft place and he has no issues with lashing out at home due to lack of space. No chewed shoes, no accidents (unless he has deadly diarrhea and we aren’t home) and no anxious behaviour.
He gets about 1.5 hours a day walks/runs/skateboards and longer on our weekends.
He seems to love our tiny place. He’s as happy to curl up on the couch as he is to be out hunting squirrels in the forest.

Thanks for the input man, I figured this was the case. Just want to double check - I wasn’t expecting the dog to get “exercise” inside my apartment, more so just a space perspective for a large dog inside a small place.

Just get a big bed. 4 legs takes up a lot more space than 2
We had a nice day with mr. Monty out at Lynn Canyon today.

Dude got his first beach trip:

and helped me jack up an E92 to do brakes:

and is still a generally happy dog even though he is totally skin and bones at this point. 2 months since thinking it was over, though, and still going strong...

Meanwhile, this guy was surrendered to the shelter a week ago with less than an hour before he'd have been killed. A GSD owner at my dog park that runs a rescue raced in to save him. I hesitate to jinx it, but as long as the seizures (reason for surrender) dissipate, and they seem to be bacterial infection-related, the Dude and the Bunk are going to have anew partner named McNulty in a week or so.
