Went to the local pull apart today on Black Friday and did a little shopping.

MS-43 MS-45 had to chip I was looking for.. and the DME and X5 4.4 actually had two chips... Bosch 30348.

Do these chips look like they should all work fine? I cross reference the number based on the pictures earlier in the post and it looks like they should be okay.

I just cut sections of the board out and will desolder them later when I get home.

Been having trouble finding genuine AM29F400BB chipsets recently so I decided to chance it on some ebay clones ... low and behold it damages one of my mss54 converted HP DMEs, so I decided to rebuild another for testing purposes.

I think the ST chipsets are still available in genuine guise but has anyone found a better source for genuine AM29F400 chipsets recently??

my newly converted HP with H Bridge - full CSL spec.

I haven’t tried finding them in a while. If the st chips are still available, I’d just use those.

Macronix seems to have launched a new variant, the mx29f400cb, but currently don’t seem to make automotive grade variants

I usually have good success finding chips on AliExpress. Last batch I ordered were AM29F400BB-55SI's that all worked perfectly. Albeit, I always throw them on my GQ-4x4 Programmer before they even touch the DME.

I doubt anything from AliExpress is actually genuine though.

Kinda inconsequential at this point, don't you think? These things have been obsolete for so long..

EDIT:

I also have a few junk DMEs for parts, so I can spare a few h-bridges if needed.
