lower the window approx. 3-4"
before removing the gnd. removing the airbag while the battery is connected may give you an airbag light later on your dash.

i know this is an old thread, but the correct information may help someone else some day. if thats the driver side window.. then the nut, metal plate and plastic clip in your pic is actually backwards. it should be on the other side. 1-2mm play is okay. it will not move once the bolt is in place. i'll post some pics as i changed my regulator today. more pictures here

Hopefully this will help someone out if they ever have to do this. When I took my window out, pieces fell out into the bottom of the door and I couldn't find out where they went.

Pics of what fell out are here:
http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=417654

Here is what the passenger side looked like. I had to take the passenger door panel off to figure out that the pieces that fell out were held in with a rubber o-ring which had disintegrated. The aluminum piece with the fine groove goes up against the fine grooves in the piece on the window regulator. The cam goes inside.
Summary: Check your o-ring before you take the window out and it should help keep parts from falling out and keep the window from going out of alignment.

Help please.

How do you remove the window if the window is stuck down and you can't access the E7 bolts?
