Here is my passenger side. Driver's side has a smaller hairline break in the sealer.
02, always had OEM strut brace and stock suspension.
115k miles.
I'm the second owner. dealer serviced not-abused car.

Seamer sealer along the strut attachment points looks good.

Guys that have larger amounts of separation like above should definitely have a closer look at the fender well sealer and inside the fender area at the spot welds.

My theory also is that the attachment failures aren't generally enough in most cases to notice a problem, particuarly if the car has a shock brace holding things relatively stable, combined with the fact that people dont' take fenders off for any kind of routine inspection would naturally leave us ignorant of issues behind the fender.

The picture just above is not healthy. It may not be catastrphic, but it's not "right" in my opinion. The cause for smaller issues, I don't think is old seam sealer. The passenger side has permanently relocated and broken the spot weld up top. The driver's side looks like stress, but don't see evidence of metal failure. That is the perfect car to remove the fender to examine the rest of the strut tower attachment points. Thanks for the oppotunity to answer your question here by the way. Please feel free to offer suggestions and opinions.

By the way, if you're reading, I know it's a pain, but if you would be brave enough to have a look, the community may benefit greatly from knowing if you have other metal failure behind the fender, or not.

Ok - I have separation up top & car is going on jack stands to put in front shocks so I'll take a look under fender liner & report back next weekend when I have my shocks back.

I have a similar separation as JaredMV has on his driver side, passenger side is sound though. However, have we found a solution to this or a way to prevent further tearing?

I'm of the mind to use epoxy or extra seam sealer.
