Not much of a beer drinker (there are too many better drinks out there), but when I do go for one, I usually like a Sam Adams Boston Lager (if you like more taste) or a Corona Extra with lime (if you like a more refreshing finish). Heinekens are not too bad either, for a run of the mill lager. Ales are an acquired taste.

That's a matter of opinion. There is every bit as much complexity to beer as anything else. It's all what you're looking for and what you've taken the time to learn to appreciate. I'd take a great beer over a great wine any day of the week.

The only acquired taste I see here is one for below average beers with the exception of Sam Adams.

Yes, it is a matter of opinion, and for the rest, no comment

For starters I would suggest something light and/or sweet:
Hoegaarden Witbier (Wit)
Hacker-Pschorr (Weiss)
Corona Extra (Pilsener)

Then you can move into something a little more adventurous:
Marston's Pedigree (Ale)
Old Speckled Hen (Ale)
Zywiec (Pale lager)
Innis&Gunn (Oak aged beer. Most unique beer I've tasted)

Acquired Taste, stout or spicy:
Guiness (Stout)
St-Ambroise Oatmeal Stout (Stout)
Maudite (Strong Red Ale)

And remember, "The best beer in the world is the one in my hand"
