Nope. I ordered it from BMW as they didnt have any end user stock. They had a drum of it for their own use for cars coming in for dealer servicing.

Any way I have already changed it and all good.

I just researched this again after re-reading this thread. RP says use Syncromax where ATF is called for, and they call it a gear oil, not ATF. The problem is I can't find the weight spec listed, and they absolutely don't label it as a GL4 gear lube. Hence, it isn't the OE spec, and again, folks on here have had problems with it after about 10k miles. I'd at least stay with the BMW spec for this tranny IN OUR APPLICATION.

It's not even in the same part of the autoparts store as all the other ATFs.

Will be attempting to do this next weekend with motul fluids. Recommended to me by a very good BMW shop here in Oceanside. Hopefully I won't regret it.

I had a lot of doubts about changing the Transmission fluid mostly because of that stupid sicker on the side of the transmission regarding lifetime fluid. Yesterday as part of DIY Inspection II, I tacked this simple task, and it made a word of difference on the transmission feel. And I have an SMG car.. The fluid that came out was black, but more importantly the viscosity was akin to water, so literally was providing zero protection to the transmission. I will be changing this fluid every 30k miles.

I was planning on doing this over the weekend until I noticed the bottle I ordered says GL-5.

This is what I ordered from ecs: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-febi-par...220309031~feb/

The other ones say GL-4 so I am confused, will this be OK to use?

Not sure anybody is going to give you a "yes or no" here because, given we know Pentosin MTF2 is the OEM fluid, that is what most/all would choose to put in the car. It's what I bought for when I swap fluid soon too.

I just did this job over the weekend. Some additional tips.

1. You will need a breaker bar. You will not be able to He-Man the fill plug loose.

2. Make sure to have a small wire brush at hand to clean the threads on the fill and drain plug. My plugs had gunk from the threads that sat outside the block.

3. I had a hard time locating Pentosin MTF 2 and opted to Ravenol MTF2 which meets specs for (GL4).
