Prices are high everywhere for E36 M3's in good shape by historical standards, but it's just simple supply and demand. They are a very well loved car and they are getting very hard to find in good shape (as others have pointed out).

I still think at $15k a nice E36 M3 is a good deal compared to anything else you can buy for $15k. They are fun to drive, reliable, cheap to maintain, relatively quick even by today's standards, and look great. 90's nostalgia has arrived and is now here to stay.

Look at the 90's Japanese sports car market recently. Collector quality RX-7's, Supras, NSXs, etc. have skyrocketed. By comparison the E36 M3 is still a steal.

Here’s food for thought... Is everything appreciating? (Houses, cars, everything) OR is the Dollar losing value and costing more $$ to buy the same thing?

What is inflation, Alex.

USD strength has actually increased as of late.

I blame drift culture for the spike in e36's. Those dirtbags will weld any diff they can find

E36 M3s stickered for about $40K 20+ years ago. If you can get a decent one for anything under 50% MSRP -- and by decent Im not talking roached-out examples with a 170,000 miles -- get them while the gettin' is good. Especially if its in an unusual color, manual, and/or sedan. Combinations of those + low mileage add you're gonna be golden.

E30 318 and 325 cars used to be so cheap they were like buying Tic Tacs. We're not talking E30 M3s. Now even swamp-rat E30 3-series are going for $7-9K. Well-cared for cabriolets are pushing $12-15K. And these cars dont hold a wick to an E36 M3. You think they built a lot of E36 M3s? They built over 2 million garden variety E30s and its not stopping those cars from appraising higher.
