Default Intermittent Red Battery Light

So I have been getting an intermittent red battery light which I understand is an indication of a alternator issue as the battery is not being charged. Roughly two years ago I had the red light come on, the the car died, and then I replaced the alternator with a remanufactured Bosch unit. I have heard that these re-man'd units are hit and miss, leading me back to thinking that's my culprit. However, usually when the light comes on I can rev up to about 4k rpm and the light goes away entirely. It isn't till later that it comes back. Just wanting to make sure that is still something that is a typical indicator of an alternator, or if there is something else I should be looking at. Thank you for your input.

I had this exact thing happen to me, until my alternator finally decided to die in the middle of a left turn lane....

Definitely go with a new valeo one, the Bosh re-manufactured ones don't last half as long as the valeo alternators.
