Default Listening music via bluetooth

Hi everybody I am sure this topic is covered in the forums but couldn't find the information and would really appreciate the help.

I have the original navigation system and I really like the looks of it and do not want to buy aftermarket systems. However I can not use bluetooth to listen music through my phone (I know mostly I listen to the exhaust but sometimes I want to be able to enjoy some music).

Are there any adapters or such which will be compatible with the bmw navigation system (not the regular headunit). Thanks for the help!

Get the GROM unit. Works perfectly for Bluetooth audio streaming. It will plug into the trunk and replace the CD changer input.

I was about to buy a new aftermarket nav just for the Bluetooth feature lol, glad I saw this. I too have factory nav with cd changer and just want Bluetooth.

So we’re talking about this to hook up to the trunk cd changer for us guys with factory nav? About to buy it now.

I got found an old mediabridge AMBR-1500-BMW unit.

It connects to your cd changer and allows for BT, ipod etc. Steering wheel controls work, even the ptt button triggers Google Assistant (My phone is a Pixel).

THe audio quality is... passable. With the long cable, if you allow the scrolling text, you can hear each tick when the music is not playing.

This was a cheap and easy way to get BT to my headunit which doesn't have the aux input.

I bought mine on ebay, they appear once in a while. Note this is the same unit that bavsound was selling and relabeling.

If anyone is looking to buy a GROM, they just emailed me a coupon.

Hopefully someone else might use it. I don't know why they send these to existing customers, I'm not going to buy another one.

I use the OE Aux Port for navigation. I have it seamlessly installed in the ash tray. While bluetooth is "convenient" and wireless, I find that the audio quality is better via aux-input and the time it takes me to plug the jack into the port on my phone is likely just as fast as connecting it to BT (maybe even faster). When not in use, everthing is nice and tidily closed up behind the ashtray door in front of the shifter.
