Default Has anyone done the BAV Sound upgrade?

Hey guys,

I always considered the BAV speaker upgrade in my 330CI since the system seemed weak, even with the Harmon Kardons from the factory. I was always comparing it to my 2012 LR4 though, and that thing is like being in a symphony hall. In the end, I decided not to do the upgrade because I realized during ownership of the 330 that I'd eventually have to get an M3.

I put a much nicer head in the M3, and it's been satisfactory, but I was wondering: does the ~$500 BAV set offer a noticeable improvement?

On other news, I recently discovered that the subwoofer in the M3 can be pivoted around to face the rear of the car to allow for transporting long objects through the rear seats, and that my car had been in this configuration since I bought it. I remedied that, and I've since been enjoying listening to Green Day's incredible 12 studio albums and 2 live albums (as usual - this is the only music I listen to and the only music anyone needs) with much better bass than I thought the M3 was capable of.

It's nice to hear Mike Dirt's self-composed bass lines and Tre Cool thumping the kick drum as God intended for them to be heard.

Yup... love it. Ppl will say it's overpriced and that you can get better; that maybe true if you find a talented installer who doesn't value his time. But for a DIY, plug and play type system it's phenomenal.

Our cars amp is still the weak link.

Bav Sound really makes a great product. I added their complete system to my e36 m3 and I could not be happier. Installation was a breeze and the quality + sound is amazing. It was a bit pricey but for what you get and in comparison to what else is out there you can't beat it. The only complaint I have is that there is a lack of bass which isn't a deal breaker for me personally but it could use a bit more. Help this helps!

I have stage 1 and stage 2 in my car. I like it. It is a little overpriced IMO, but it is plug and play and I got the stage 2 used so its all good to me.

I've had the speakers in my car for like 7 years. Liked them enough to put them in the E46 wagon as well. As has been mentioned, for being plug an play they are great. Yes, you can do better with a custom install but making massive changes to interior panels wasn't my thing.

Also had my BM53 upgraded a few years ago.

Hey, I guess I don't understand what this is - an amp? Amplifier? What does that do? If I do the BVA speaker upgrade, will this $149 stage II upgrade further enhance my sound quality? Or is this only valuable if I plan on upgrade my subwoofer?

Thanks!

If I were you, I would try upgrading the amp first and go from there.
Upgrading amp make a huge difference. The amp sends more powerful signal, meaning better sound/quality.
