Thanks for the responses guys, i guess i kinda figured it still worked fine....but was real interested in whether or not the signal loss is noticeable at all.

Either way i will be buying 1 of them (super small stubby or not as supersmall stubby)

127mm will retain antenna strength as if it were OEM.
Hey EAS---do you guys still sell the stubby antennas for E46 M3 verts? I couldnt find them on your site and some a**hole just stole mine off my car.

Here's another option:
http://www.bimmian.com/Micro-Antenna...W-E36-3-Series

Says it fits the E46 as well.

I got mine here for $12.99 back in April: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171407023324

It arrived fairly quickly and fits/functions well.

Did you order that same one from the link? Thinking of grabbing one, but I don't want to lose any reception. My daily commute goes through areas that are already on the weak side for reception as is and it's just tolerable with the stock antenna. The one on this link seems a little shorter (65mm) than a few others I've seen available (at 83mm and 100mm or so) on eBay, but those don't seem as directed to BMWs. Thanks for your opinion!
