Default '09 M3 MDCT engine pinking

Hi.I have a E92 M3 2009 model with MDCT transmission.

When I take off in 2nd,the engine pinks at low revs. Also when I down change at low revs, the engine pinks.

What could the problem be?

What MMME30W said...or, are you filling with lower octane gas? Needs to be minimum 91.

So you have an automatic M3 using bad gas or lower than 91 octane rating gas.

wth is pinking?

This was my reply in the other thread.
I have no idea what you mean by it pinks? No idea what you mean, but I have heard some complaints from owners with older software. My car came all updated, so I never had these issues.

Has your software been updated?
BMW Issued updated software in Aug. '12 that improved the DCT smoothness. I would start there.

PING = P ING = Pre Ignition. At least in my experience in the US.

I've heard this described in the UK as pinking, not sure why, I only lived in the UK five years. Maybe because it makes a 'pink pink' sound?
