Jake/AP - Curious, what is the basis for using such a long shifter for racing? Srs question.

The longer the shifter, the closer it is to the wheel. The closer it is to the wheel, the less time you spend shifting, and the more time you spend with both hands on the wheel.

These shifters are mounted to the chassis as well, rather than sitting in a carrier, so things are more direct and not as "mushy". I went from a B&M Short Shift with UUC DSSR, to the AKG Stage II Quickshift with the same DSSR. The AKG is an unbelievable piece. Precise, comfortable, and the feedback is amazing. Not to mention the throw is 4". Zero play. Completely blew my B&M out of the water.

I thought they were stupid before I drove a car with one. It blew me away.

There are some downsides to the AKG. It's $400 after shipping. But after driving a car with one, I had to sell some stuff around the house to pay for it. Also, you need stiff transmission mounts at a minimum. Otherwise it will not go into gear when loaded up. Engine and transmission mounts are optimal. I just have RE transmission mounts, and can do okay around the track. I may have a couple of sloppy gear changes, but it works.

Congratulations Jake!

Treat her right, and always think the best of her. I love being married. 20 years this month! Loved the video, thanks for sharing it!
