Question Thinking of using a second DSC or HK premium sound switch to turn off my angel eyes.

I have my angel eyes hooked up to be on when the car is running and with my interior lights, but there are times when I’d like to turn them off.
I don’t like adding switches to my cars that don’t look factory. I have an extra slot in my center console so I was thinking I would just buy a second HK speaker switch or another switch in that group and wire it to activate the AEs. I figure the HK switch would be a good one to use as it keeps memory with the car off.

I have a few questions for you guys.

I can’t find the switch on real OEM anyone have a link of a part number?

Second any idea on wiring? I hope I can find a wiring harness as well or at least the correct connector so I can hook it up.

And last if the key is off and the door is open will the switch still allow the lights to work?

That panel of switches is all one piece, so you're not going to be able to order an individual switch. The button panels come up every now and again in the classifieds and on ebay. You'd need to buy one with the extra switch already on it and do some surgery.

If you've already installed an aux input into the panel I think you would have noticed this? What year is your M3? I know the 3-series had individual buttons at one point but I thought the M3 always used the one-piece button panel with a single electrical connector in the back.

Yeah now that you mentioned it I remember it being a single connection. My car is 04 and it's been a while since I installed the aux.

Maybe I’ll put an aftermarket switch in the back of my sunglass tray where I can’t see it lol

Could also add a switch in the cupholder area/coin area.

Another idea - Convertibles have an extra window switch on the driver's side of the shift knob which operates all 4 windows simultaneously. You could use a convertible shift surround piece if you could figure out how to put a switch in that location that would do the trick. I imagine re-working a window switch to operate the lights would be a bit involved, but its just an idea....
