Default Re: Anybody Have VAC's High Perf. Oil Pump?

Curious to know about this as it's something I'm contemplating when it's rod bearing time.

However I'd like to point out that I think there is a big difference between the quality, functionality and longevity of the PRODUCT,

and

The price, customer service and "standupmanship" of the proprietor/shop.

I do accept that there is some crossover in the assembly phase where some customers can get unlucky, but hopefully the tech has some sort of morale with regards to ethics and workmanship in the product he is assembling.

At approx 100k now and whilst an oil pump is a relatively simple mechanical piece, with the rod bearing clearance rumour for the S54 it feels right to at least consider a possible upgrade once I'm deep in the belly of the beast doing the bearings.

Regards

I went with the stock pump in my rod bearing job I am doing now. ECS/Turner had the best price but it was still painful, engine at 120K I felt it was cheap insurance as I plan to take the car over 200K miles. I also clearanced the area where the chain rubs. I have not heard of any sprocket nut issues on the S54 but I used red loctite just in case. I found my pickup tube o-ring was pinched and smashed in an area so I was happy I replaced that o-ring, ECS would not break a pack of 25 to sell me one, that cost them a 500 dollar sale when I had to go to another vendor for the individual o-ring.
