All they did was reset the airbag computer and pull the battery so your OBC gets zeroed. They won't touch your LSZ, GM5, etc....

I hear ya, I've been putting this off for that same reason. Especially after my buddy had his M3 passenger side trim and ARC 8 rim scratched!

Just take off the trim before you bring it in then. Sure, Takata engineering really screwed up, but the harder joke is on you should that airbag ever have to deploy and the device which is supposed to save you, hurts you. Your lottery "win" could create ever lasting effects to you and your family because you didn't want something potentially scratched. Get real people, it's a car and it can be fixed with money. Your face cannot be fixed the same way....unless you're a millionaire housewife and live in Los Angeles or Miami.

Every time I go to the dealership they tell me they don't have the parts, and have been asking for a year. I have 3 cars with this recall!!!

Glad I got mine done earlier this year. BMW even put me in a loaner while they had my car. Painless experience and it gave me a new appreciation for my M3 after spending a few days (I had other work done at the same time) in a new loaded 3-series, which just was not the same experience you get from an E46 M3.

The passenger side took about 30min to change, which I had done about a year and 6months ago. The driver side likely took the same amount of time, but I scheduled the recall to be done while I was getting additional work done on the car at the dealership. The wait time was due to needing a new key and having to wait for them to order it. So I suppose technically the loaner was for other work, but the recall was performed during this same time period. 2 birds 1 stone....or is it 2 girls 1 cup? I never can remember.

So a dealer around me is having a Takata recall event this Saturday, where you can take your car in for the recall and they have food and drinks available. I guess they're trying to group everyone together.
