Interesting.
The solenoid o-rings would be easy to source at nearly any hydraulics shop if your city has one; and once you know the size if they're not viton you could use that size/part to get a box of them from McMaster car for probably $15.

Let me know what your pump seal looks like. the one I dismantled several years ago had a fiberous seal, not rubber. Doesn't mean a viton one - OF THE RIGHT THICKNESS (not too thick) wouldn't work well. Just curious what your original looks like. I damaged my gasket, which is a shame as the unit is very low miles and was running well when I received it!
It's a bosch pump, I expect the OE seal could be found if one spent the time.

Good to hear! I got a cog light, code P1717 and dropped into neutral for the first time the other day. It was a hot day so I had the AC on. Code and cog light has since disappeared

You worried me there for a second lol. Keep an eye on it because mine became more frequent over the years. And while it was still functional in cooler weather/no traffic I decided it was time for peace of mind. Replaced it at ~144k but I wonder how much longer it would have lasted in cooler conditions.

No idea if this would fit, or work, or how loud this would be, but I wonder how difficult (and effective) it would be to run some sort of active cooling fan system like this inline F.A.S.T blower, either with ducting to the stock SMG location or routed to the drug bin (with an SMG pump relocation. Any thoughts? Are these obnoxiously loud? Would it be hard to wire it to run for this purpose (ie: only turn on based on a certain temperature threshold)?

I got the idea of this unit in particular when I saw this picture:

It looks rather big, but maybe something similar but smaller would work?

Cooling / heat isolation has been tried several years ago. Like I've commented on relocation, it is pointless if you already have a problem, like dropping out of gear or some of the on-time error codes. Likewise hard to tell if it will help much with a unit that's got ... pick a number ... 75k miles or more and is maybe near failure but no symptoms. Because these cases are that the brushes/motor are shot.
New unit, or for whatever reason your unit isn't degraded, any cooling should help.
