You basically use a better power band in each gear with 3.91. With a 5 speed manual and 3.91 you're topping out 5th somewhere around 120 but get up there pretty quick from what I hear couple of guys have 3.91 in their manuals on bfc.
Performance wise the tranny chip and 3.91 will put a huge smile on your face when you first drive it, then you get used to it quick and it starts to feel normal again. For the price hands down it's the best mods to throw on the car. May I ask why you got auto, I have injury so for now that's what I have, was it just hard to find a manual sedan or you don't really care for the 3rd pedal?
The auto chose me. When I decided that I wanted an m3 there were not that many good examples out there in my price range. I stumbled upon this one talked the guy down 3 grand and bought it The extra 2 doors enabled me to slip this past the wife .. "HEY BABE CAR GETS GREAT GAS MILAGE. IT'S A SEDAN SO WE CAN PUT THE CHILD..AND THE DOG... BACK THERE" PLUS IT'S KINDA FUN TO DRIVE "

Ah, I see, regardless it's funner to drive than any auto I've ever driven. Good luck with a good find on the 3.91 diff and enjoy your car I may have to steal your paint job though

Regular black ones are relatively cheap. Under $80 for a set used on ebay. The LTW ones are pricey around $150ish
