~4000lbs really isn't that bad for a car the size of a G30. That thing is going to be monstrously fast with 600hp/AWD/DCT.

I agree that 200lbs here or there when the car is 4500+ is irrelevant but if car X is 8-10% lighter than car Y it's going to make a substantial difference.

Who knows maybe the G30 M5 is horrible like the F10 but I am hopeful they got this one right.

I think the weight will be debated until the car is actually delivered to customers. I am, however, more interested in the power plant BMW intends to put into the M5.

If there's one thing BMW absolutely needs to focus on - it's sound. Luxury, looks, etc. is all subjective IMO, as I prefer the look of BMW interiors over MB (even though this is not the general consensus, I just prefer the layout), but the sound of MB's latest AMG cars is objectively better than anything BMW has put out as of late.

my friend just told me about the 2017 e63 amg s and it has switchable awd/rwd with 607 hp and 637 tq and its a beast. So this move with the m5 is just about keeping up with MB.

In what world would these two cars ever race against one another besides the fictitious world of the car magazines.
People buying these cars will just use them to commute to work and buy groceries.

so 90.000001% of people know the curb weight of their vehicles? That's pretty impressive I think.

I might, or might not, have meant 99.99999%

2nd thing people look for when buying a new car, right after verifying it has the correct intake air velocity for their needs.

I think they look at at the gear final drive ratio right after checking the air intake speed no?
Pretty sure most buyers of 5 series/E-class cars look at the type of differential it comes with as well. Limited slip would be a deal killer for most ya know, they all want torque vectoring or DIAF.
Thats why these buyers would flip they shlt the second they find out the curb weight is increased by 150lbs cos they made the car rwd/awd selectable.

That will be so noticeable on your commute to work as having multilink suspension vs control arms. Most people know exactly what those things are/mean and how it directly effects the daily driving.
