Default Who Here Tracks Their M3?

Hi All,

So, I used to race my 95 M3 about 5 years ago, but had to stop because I was going to school. I was able to race an 86 Porsche Turbo this weekend, and I completely fell in love with the sport again! ANYWAYS, it's time to put my 04 on the track!

Questions:
1. What club/s are ya'll racing with? BMWCCA?
2. How is the oil pan baffle? The stock one on E36 is inadequate for racing, and I want to make sure I don't cook my E46 in the corners.
3. Suggestions/comments?

Thanks,
Arson8

What exactly are you referring to when you say racing? It sounds like you are talking about HPDE and driver schools rather than club racing or the like. Stock oil pump set up should be more than fine for you.

Look into scca, nasa and ncrc (you may be too far south).

BMW Club racing it is then IMO. NASA could be an option but sometimes the racing is a little rough at least around here. How would you race a BMW in the PCA BTW?

Look up your local BMWCCA chapter and join them. My chapter has good autox events. I also like going to the PCA autox events and spank Porsche's

you should also try drifting, most drift events are cheap and if you have a hookup for cheap tires it can be very fun.

NASA and/or BMWCCA club racing are very active in the LA area. Cal Club/SCCA too. My $.02: don't hack up a nice street car with the cage/suspension/etc. Buy someone else's race car, and let them eat the loss. You'll be cash ahead, and still have your nice M3.

Hey Kruger, it was nice meeting you at the Counter meet. You should check out SpeedDistrict, most of the M Club LA guys go to that one. Next event is December 1st I believe.

FYI, there is a track section on this forum. But if you are really serious about racing, NASA, BMWCCA and NCRC have race groups.

Hey cooler2442! Yes, SpeedDistrict is what I'm looking for. SpeedVentures also looks pretty good.
