I had the same issue over the winter, i replaced the tps on the front of the engine right above the oil filter... checked my tb's and everything works like a charm now..

I have read we have a few TPS's which one would be associated with my code?

ok got EML again, is it my TPS above the oil filter or the one on the pedal?

I replaced both the front TPS sensor and the gas pedal. Part numbers are below:

TPS Pedal:
35426772706 - $112.82

Throttle Valve Switch:

i did the exact same thing. first i replaced the front TPS near the oil filter and it did not resolve my limp mode problem. shortly after i replaced the gas pedal potentiometer and never went into limp mode again.

IIRC the gas pedal potentiometer is a newer revision from 2008 in replace of my 2001 pedal potentiometer.

Funny topic, I was driving today after getting car serviced from bmw and all of a sudden 4 lights came on:

1. Engine service soon
2. EML
3. Yellow Brake light
4. DSC

I restarted the car and only "engine service" came on... Then as I was driving the EML and DSC came on again. restarted engine again and only "engine service" was on. Did not feel any lack in power, but I was only going 30mph top.

I drove my car back to BMW which was a mile away to get it serviced. I will ask them exactly what the issue is when I get my car back. My warrenty should still cover the problem you think?

BTW... I just installed angel eyes on my car, you don't think that has anything to do with it right?

I dont think so...but i left my radar in, and it stays on...so i dont know if voltage has to do with it...my radar stays on if the car is off....im not sure if thats the case....thats the only new thing i have noticed with my car, i have cleared it my second time if it comes on again im taking it to the indy. i read some posts that it can be a glitch...so we'll see...keep me posted on your issue.

So got my M3 back from the dealer today. They were nice enough to give me a free car wash. Too bad it was raining outside anyways.

Issue with the problem was throttle more specifically they mentioned about the potentiometer.

They replaced the throttle and test drove my car, now everything is working fine.

They did not say anything about TPS replacement.

All work was covered under warrenty, however, they charged about 600 bucks as I noticed on receipt.

I just picked my '06 M3 Coupe MT from the dealer. Had the exact same issue.

EML
Service Engine soon
Yellow Brake light
DSC light
limp mode

restarted a few times and limp mode went away. Got it to the dealer.

Replaced 2 Throttle Valve Switches (potentiometers) (both had many faults stored) under warranty.

part number 13-63-7-840-383 (qty 2)
