Default Replacement unit for 2006 BMW M3 GPS Nav system

Hi there fellow BMW folks,

So after owning my 2006 BMW M3 for the past 10 years, my GPS computer system failed to work correctly. I need advice on some slide in after market replacements for the large screen GPS unit. It worked ok for 10 years so that is pretty good but now I want a good affordable touchscreen compatible model. What would you recommend and why? Any good shops in northern California that can do the swap out and configuration? Mine is the large screen computer model. Today when driving home the GPS stopped working correctly.

I have the dynavin 7 in my E46 M3, to be honest I've heard nothing but good things about it and it's been serving me pretty well. The Bluetooth connects almost instantly and it's just a really good overall system.

A replacement MKIV nav can be had for $150 and you get to keep OE aesthetics.

If you really want to go for an Android unit, the Avin Avant 4 seems to be an okay choice. There are several threads floating around this sub-forum with member input on how the unit operates.

I don't think shops resell these units. If you have a CD53, your install is pretty easy, otherwise you have to run the 6m cable to the trunk. I'd do the job myself, but if that's not an option, I'd look for any Indy shop in your area.

For what it's worth, I know a lot of people like the Android units but I switched back after trying one. I found it way too distracting and dangerous. The new BlueBus Bluetooth system is much more interesting to me for adding modern features to the factory radio.
