The trade off is the storage area behind the engine. Youíre not getting that in an R8, which I agree is better proportioned.

The car does look much more balanced in Schmee and Lenoís videos. It sort of has that 720s/Huayra stretched out look. The taillights and the headlights are the only parts Iím not thrilled with, but theyíre not dealbreakers.

Interior appears much higher quality than expected. Iíd put it on par with the base cayman before you start leather wrapping everything on the Porsche, and above the Vantage. Not on par with the AMG GT.

I guess they had to get those golf clubs in there somewhere.

I'm going to reserve judgment on the looks until I see one in the flesh, but it's just okay in photos. Definitely some questionable angles and the proportions seem a bit off.

It's not going to be my jam though. Not in the market for a two seater and it's just such a big car. Great price though. Chevrolet has been killing it with regards to chassis and suspension. They've been pretty solid on their v8's as well, so I'm sure this won't disappoint with regards to performance. They did struggle a little with engine and transmission cooling though, no? Hopefully this won't have any of those issues.

Cooling issues in c7 were limited to supercharged cars.

I donít actually think the R8 rear is particularly good, but itís certainly the worst angle of the C8.
Different strokes for folks

Fair enough. Trans issues though, right? Not just overheating but other significant problems, no? This is their first DCT that I'm aware of, so that could be interesting.

I donít know anything about trans issues, but I didnít pay that close attention to previous corvettes. This is the first one Iíve wanted to own.

... hopefully by the 3rd model year a manual is on offer.

I actually think the front end looks very much corvette. About as corvette as a mid engined car could look:

And some more pics I hadn't seen before:

Online configurater is up and running (cosmetics only currently). Looks like you can have the accents, including the side pods, done in body color. Looks better to my eye, at least in the 3D model they let you play with.

This car will be amazing on the track, but my biggest concern is driving enjoyment on the road- no manual, electric steering, loads of grip, and portly (est ~3600 lbs wet). What does everybody else think?
