Since my new hobby is getting rear ended in the M5 (), the phone is the way to go, IMO! I take pictures of the people, the accident, their licenses and insurance cards, licence plates, etc.

I still have a one in every vehicle but unfortunately you are correct and it is less important now than before but far from a waste of space.

... My M5 has a tape player, but I leave the top gun soundtrack in it 100% of the time

Hahaha... I used to "impress" my friends with the cassette player behind the navigation in my M5 then the head unit was replaced with a MK4. The mystique was gone.
